This problem isn’t unique to security equipment; it's common across many online purchases. On B2C platforms like JD.com, the selection is more limited, and even fewer well-known brands appear. While these platforms may offer better quality assurance, the unfamiliarity with some of the brands can be confusing for consumers. Moreover, in the current security market, where many brands operate under exclusive agency agreements, identifying genuine products can be difficult. Many sellers list obscure brand names without clear explanations, making it hard for buyers to verify authenticity. While online marketing is becoming an essential part of modern business, the question remains: can we truly trust what we see online? According to Ms. Wang, a long-time player in the security industry, the sector still lacks mature standards and established regulations. As the industry continues to evolve, rushing into large-scale online sales could lead to quality issues. In addition, many small companies dominate the mid-to-low-end market, offering products that are hard to distinguish from one another. Without real-world testing, it's tough for consumers to tell which ones are reliable. Although online sales have already surpassed offline sales in some areas, the challenge lies in how to help users better understand and evaluate the products they're purchasing.
