Woody is the general name for the genus Yunmuxiang and Chuanmuxiang. Yunmuxiang (scientific name: Saussurea costus), also known as guangmuxiang or aozhuxiang, belongs to the genus Compositae. Chuan Muxiang (scientific name: Dolomiaea souliei) is a plant of the genus Chrysanthemum, which is a unique plant in China.
Distributed in Sichuan, Yunnan, Tibet and other places in mainland China, it grows in alpine grassland and shrubs and is a wild plant that has not been artificially introduced. The rhizomes of these two plants are important Chinese herbal medicines.
Woody flowers are evergreen or semi-evergreen climbing vines with extremely long life. The plant height is 6~10 meters, the branchlets are green, and there are no thorns or a small amount of thorns. The pinnately compound leaves are alternate, with a length of 2~3.5 cm and a width of 0.8~1.8 cm. The flower bones are inflorescences of the corymbs, which are born at the apex of short branches. The peduncle is 2 cm long and the flowers are 2-3 cm in diameter. The petals are white or yellow, single or double petals, and have a rich aroma. The flowering period is from April to July. The fruit is nearly spherical and has a diameter of 3 to 5 cm. The fruit period is from September to October.
