Electrolytic aluminum liquid directly produced aluminum slabs through expert appraisal

The China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association organized an expert in Meishan, Sichuan Province to identify the scientific and technological achievements of the project “Direct Production of High-quality Aluminum and Aluminum Alloy Flat Ingots from Electrolytic Aluminum Fluid”. Experts at the meeting listened to the report of the research group, reviewed the appraisal materials, conducted questioning and on-the-spot investigations. After careful discussion, experts believed that the electrolytic aluminum solution developed by the project directly produced high-quality 1000 series, 3003, and 5052 aluminum and aluminum alloy ingots. Technology, successfully applied in the Venus project, is a domestic leader, among which PS1050 and 5052 alloy slabs are the first in China.

Electrolytic aluminum liquid directly produces high-quality aluminum and aluminum alloy flat slab project development technical characteristics and innovations:

1. The aluminum and aluminum alloy slabs can be manufactured to meet the requirements of users through the use of electrolytic aluminum liquor through reasonable ingredients, intensified slag removal in the furnace, online refinement, on-line double-stage degassing and double-stage filtration.

2. After the electrolytic aluminum liquid has undergone a selective graining process, the primary crystal grains of the slab ingot can be cast.

3. Developed the first 35T inner-conduction hydraulic casting machine in China. The flatness of the slab produced does not exceed 4mm; it can completely replace imported equipment and reach domestic leading level.

4. The self-developed alkali metal such as Na in the electrolytic aluminum solution will not only lay a good foundation for the production of Al-Mg alloy slab ingots, but also reduce the environmental pollution caused by the traditional process.

Aluminum alloy flat ingot quality standards

Generally, users have clear requirements on the internal structure, chemical composition, surface quality, and size of aluminum alloy slabs, especially in terms of grain size, porosity, inclusions, cracks, and hydrogen content. Southwest Aluminum, for example, they require:

(1) Chemical composition: It meets the requirements of its internal standard YF209-2004.

(2) Internal organization: The grain size is not greater than 2; there are no defects such as cracks, pores, and inclusions.

(3) Hydrogen content: not more than 118ml
