Andy Su J. Norbert Michel: The application and "new progress" of liquid methionine

In recent years, the growth of liquid methionine has been remarkable. According to reports from Boa and News, China imported a total of 183,200 tons of methionine in 2012, with 50,000 tons being liquid methionine, accounting for 27% of the total. What are the unique properties of liquid methionine in animal feed, and what are its future applications? This seminar was privileged to have Mr. J. Norbert Michel, Technical Support Manager at Adisseo Life Science Products (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., deliver a keynote speech titled "Liquid Methionine: An Excellent Choice." The following content is based on the live presentation by Mr. J. Norbert Michel, without my personal verification. One of the key advantages of liquid methionine is its 100% utilization rate. Dr. Michel explained that, similar to solid methionine, liquid methionine (methionine hydroxy analog, 88%) can be fully absorbed by animals. As a mixture, it contains both monomeric and non-monomeric forms. The monomeric form is directly absorbed, while the non-monomeric form is passively absorbed through the action of H+ and Na+. Additionally, liquid methionine can be metabolized into L-cystine and taurine as it is converted into L-methionine. Beyond its nutritional value, liquid methionine offers several other benefits. Dr. Michel shared some new developments regarding its applications. First, it exhibits antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, as demonstrated in experiments that showed its effectiveness in inhibiting fungi such as Aspergillus flavus and Fusarium. Second, it has acidifying properties—1.5 kg of liquid methionine can replace 1 kg of organic acid per ton of feed. Third, it acts as an antioxidant. Lastly, it helps alleviate the effects of heat stress in animals. The seminar provided valuable insights into the potential of liquid methionine in modern feed formulations. With its high bioavailability and additional functional benefits, it's becoming an increasingly popular choice among feed producers and livestock farmers. The presentation was delivered by Mr. J. Norbert Michel, who is the Technical Support Manager at Adisseo Life Science Products (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. The translation was provided by Peng Haihong, China District Technical Manager.

Toilet Seat

A toilet seat is a component that is installed over the toilet bowl, also known as the seat for the person sitting on the toilet. Its main function is to provide a comfortable and hygienic environment for use. Here are some details about the common toilet seat cover:

  1. Comfort: toilet seats are usually designed with the user's comfort in mind, with materials and shapes carefully selected and designed to ensure comfort during use.
  2. Hygienic: Toilet lids help to keep the toilet hygienic by preventing the inside of the toilet from coming into direct contact with airborne contaminants such as dust and bacteria. Additionally, covering the toilet lid also reduces the spread of odours created when flushing.
  3. Durability: Toilet lids are usually made of durable and easy-to-clean materials that can withstand the friction of daily use and cleaning agents and are not easily damaged.
  4. Aesthetics: The design of the toilet seat also takes into account the overall aesthetics of the bathroom, and its colour, shape and style are usually in harmony with the toilet and the overall style of the bathroom.

In addition to the above basic functions, some toilet seat also has a special design, such as with a slow-down function of the toilet seat, you can avoid the noise generated by the sudden closure of the toilet seat; or with an antibacterial coating of the toilet seat, you can effectively inhibit the growth of bacteria.

In short, although ordinary toilet seat seems simple, it plays an important role in daily life, providing convenience and comfort for our life.
