One of the highlights was a remote-controlled gas valve system that can be managed through a mobile phone, helping to enhance home safety. Another project involved a protective suit for the elderly equipped with airbags, designed to deploy automatically when a fall is detected, offering an added layer of protection.

One team from Wangzhong, Hefei, focused on addressing the issue of flooded low-lying roads during heavy rains. They developed an early warning system that detects rising water levels in real-time. The system uses water level sensors, control circuits, LED displays, and audible alarms to alert drivers before they enter dangerous areas. According to Wang Kenan, the system is fully automated, using float switches to activate the alerts without the need for manual intervention.

Another innovative idea came from a contestant who aimed to improve gas leak detection. Traditional alarms rely on loud sounds, which may not be effective if no one is home. This student created a mobile-based system that sends SMS alerts to users when a gas leak is detected, allowing them to remotely shut off the gas valve via their smartphone.

Wang Yifan’s invention was a smart protective suit for the elderly. The suit includes motion and acceleration sensors that detect falls and trigger airbags. It also features flashing lights, automatic emergency calls to 120, and GPS tracking to help locate the individual quickly in case of an accident.
