The UAE is also going to be on Mars: launching unmanned detectors in 2020

According to foreign media reports, the UAE President has announced that in 2020, an unmanned Mars probe will be launched to monitor the Martian atmosphere from orbit. Named "Hope", the probe will further expand the country's space activities and participate in competition with emerging space powers such as China and India.

UAE President Khalifa-Ben Zayed Al-Nahyan said that this Mars probe will begin to enter the space exploration era on behalf of Muslim countries. Currently, the scientific survey mission of this detector is to map the Martian climate and develop the Martian atmosphere.

So far, the Emirates has only launched two small Earth observation satellites, so the "Hope" Mars probe is a major space strategy. The detector will carry an optical spectrum analyzer to analyze infrared and ultraviolet signals, and at the same time assemble a digital camera. Its space mission is to measure the water, dust and other particles in the atmosphere of Mars, trying to understand how Mars has transitioned from wet and warm in ancient times to today's dry and dusty environment. .

The "Hope" Mars exploration mission is similar to the one launched by NASA and the Indian Space Research Organization in 2014. David Brain, of the University of Colorado, said: "The Hope Mars probe is very unique. And with the MAVEN (Mars atmosphere and volatile evolution) detectors, the scientific survey mission is complementary to the MAVEN detector."
