According to the latest data released by ICIS-MRC, the price of Russian film-grade HDPE has continued to rise in recent days.
Market analysts pointed out that the "insane rise" in the price of Russian film-grade HDPE was mainly affected by the imbalance between supply and demand. On the one hand, some large HDPE production facilities in the country are being shut down for maintenance, which directly leads to a reduction in market supply. On the other hand, as the peak demand period of traditional demand approaches, the demand for HDPE in various application fields is increasing. The number of imported HDPE was reduced compared with the same period last year.
The tight supply has further pushed up the price of Russian HDPE. Among all grades of plastics, film grade HDPE has the most significant gains. By the end of May, the Russian HDPE market price increased to 80,000 rubles per ton. At the beginning of the month, this value was only 73,000 rubles / ton.
According to local traders, only Kazanorgsintez and Skinco are supplying film-grade HDPE in the domestic market, while imported film-grade HDPE has been silent. It is reported that the Middle East HDPE suppliers will reproduce the Russian market in the next few days.
In addition to the film grade, other levels of HDPE in the Russian market have also risen to varying degrees. At the end of May, the FCA blown-grade HDPE market was quoted at 75,000-77,000 rubles/ton (including VAT).
