Russia Will Take a Neutral Position Against Iranian Oil Exports

Russian Energy Minister Sergey Shematko stressed in Doha, Qatar, on the 7th that Russia will adopt a neutral position on the ban on Iranian oil exports.

Sergei Shmatko, who came to attend the 20th World Petroleum Congress, told the media that prohibiting Iranian oil exports is a political step and should not use the energy supply to exert pressure. He warned that some measures taken by certain countries in the energy sector have affected the supply and demand relations and price stability in the energy market.

Sergey Shmatko also said that Russia’s natural gas reserves have already accounted for 25.2% of the world’s total reserves. In the next 5 to 10 years, Russian natural gas production is expected to account for 52% or 53% of the world’s total production. Russia will strengthen Leading position in global energy market supply.

Sergey Shmatko also revealed that in view of the reduction in the use of nuclear energy, the global demand for natural gas has increased significantly. Russia is studying the possibility of expanding the export of natural gas to Europe and is currently conducting a long-term export of natural gas with some European countries.
