NEC Corporation has recently developed a technology that can directly and remotely operate multiple fixed battery and pure electric vehicle (EV) batteries and individually control the charge and discharge of each battery. This is said to be the first case in the world. With the expansion of renewable energy sources that generate sudden changes in electricity generation due to weather conditions, the balance between power supply and demand will change in a short period of time. By adopting these technologies, electricity demand can be controlled in real time to cope with such changes.
The technology developed by NEC can synchronize multiple batteries to form a power supply and demand balance adjustment system. Based on the “adaptive control software†that controls the state of the battery, and the “staged cooperative control system†that consists of network remote control and battery control, the balance of supply and demand is adjusted in seconds, regardless of the number of batteries.
The adaptive control software centrally manages the state of each battery at the network side, and allocates charge and discharge tasks for each battery. The hierarchical coordination control system allocates charging and discharging tasks for each battery at an interval of ten minutes on the network side. At the same time, on the side of the battery, the control software provided by each battery is used to grasp the balance of supply and demand in real time and charge and discharge are controlled in units of seconds.
In this way, the balance of supply and demand can be adjusted so that a plurality of consumers' batteries can be continuously charged and discharged at the optimum timing. In order to popularize renewable energy, it is imperative to establish a new system for real-time adjustment of the balance between supply and demand. On the other hand, the use of a plurality of storage batteries that are discretely provided for adjustment requires that the charging and discharging times be completely synchronized, and thus it is difficult to do so.
