Yang Wenqiang's research group has been engaged in the research on the mechanism of Chlamydomonas photosynthesis metabolism for a long time, and was invited to write a review to introduce the research history of hydrogen production by microalgae (including cyanobacteria and green algae), the characteristics of nitrogenase and hydrogenase, hydrogen production mechanism, and technological progress , And the application of enzymatic, genetic and metabolic engineering methods in improving hydrogen production by microalgae. Among them, the process of regulating the production of hydrogen by microalgae was highlighted, and the regulation mode of key enzymes in the fermentation and metabolic pathway of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii was summarized. The main challenges and obstacles have put forward the prospects for the future research direction of microalgae hydrogen production.
Yang Wenqiang introduced that microalgae is a facultative aerobic organism, which can convert solar energy into biohydrogen under anaerobic conditions, and use the electrons and protons produced by photosynthesis to produce hydrogen and biofuel through hydrogenase. The entire "biological hydrogen production" process uses seawater, carbon dioxide and sunlight.
