In the first half of 2013, Tianjin saw the export of 930 batches of seamless steel pipes. According to data from the Tianjin Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, a total of 936 batches were exported from Changshu during the same period, amounting to 17,004 tons and generating $64.834 million in revenue. Compared to previous periods, there was a noticeable decline—12.5% in the number of batches, 28.2% in weight, and 21.6% in value, with the weight dropping by nearly 30%.
The primary types of seamless steel pipes exported from Tianjin include 12Cr1MoV alloy steel pipes, bearing steel seamless pipes, and carbon steel seamless pipes. These products are mainly shipped to countries such as the United States, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Canada. The decline in exports can be attributed to weak international demand, the appreciation of the Chinese yuan, and rising production costs. As these factors continue to impact the industry, companies are facing shrinking profit margins and increasing pressure to remain competitive. Many are struggling to survive in this challenging environment.
The situation reflects broader economic challenges faced by the steel industry, with market forces playing a significant role in determining the survival of businesses. As global demand fluctuates and domestic costs rise, exporters must adapt quickly or risk being pushed out of the market.
