Foreign media reports that BioSolar, the US energy storage technology and materials developer, announced that with the help of its South Korean technology partner TopBattery, it has begun production and testing of its second commercial-grade prototype 21700 lithium-ion battery.
After testing, the prototype battery will be sent to potential manufacturing and development partners for internal qualification testing and analysis.
BioSolar's core focus is to apply its proprietary additive technology to the development of new silicon anode lithium-ion batteries, first to develop 21700 lithium-ion batteries for power tools.
It is understood that BioSolar is currently preparing two different types of commercial-grade 21700 prototype batteries. The first is based on the use of silicon alloy anode materials composed of Si particles (Si-MP), and the second is based on the number of pure silicon anode materials Si nanoparticles (Si-NP) used. The main difference between the two is that the size of Si-MP particles is much larger than that of Si-NP.
