Under the conditions of high temperature and high pressure and controlled thermodynamics, the in-situ mineral rock electrical properties are an extremely important means for geophysicists to reveal the composition and migration of matter inside the Earth.
Under the guidance of Li Heping, a researcher at the Institute of Geochemistry, Institute of Geochemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Li Hedong of the Institute of Geochemistry at the Institute of Geochemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Dai Lidong of the research group collaborated with Professor Shun-ichiro Karato of the Department of Geology and Geophysics of Yale University to follow different crystals. San Carlos monolithic olivine grown in the axial direction is an experimental sample, and its electrical properties are systematically and deeply studied. Important research progress has been made and it has been found that there are distinct electrical conductivity in single crystal olivine with different crystal axis direction at high temperature. This achievement is another important research result obtained by Li Heping's research team in this field after the conductivity of the olivine series in 2008. The results provide important scientific references and experimental evidence for the investigation of the causes of electrical conductivity and elastic wave velocity anomalies in the asthenosphere.
