Israeli technology company called StoreDot said recently that they have developed a new battery technology that can fully charge electric vehicles in just a few tens of seconds for mobile phones and within minutes.
The new technology uses nanotechnology to synthesize an artificial polymer material, which is then used to develop the battery. It can store higher power faster, absorbing and retaining power as quickly as an ultra-high density sponge.
StoreDot claims that the invention is based on "nano-dot" technology. They describe nanodots as bio-organic polypeptide molecules. Nano dots can change how the battery operates so that it can be quickly absorbed. Crucially, it can conserve power.
StoreDot hopes to introduce mobile phone batteries made with the latest technology and thinner fibers in 2016. By that time, it will take only 30 seconds to charge a new battery that can provide one day's battery life.
StoreDot said that the price of the fast-charging mobile phone that will eventually be listed will be higher than 100 to 150 US dollars, and ultimately will achieve 1500 charge and discharge cycles, available for three years.
In addition, a near-term goal of StoreDot is to develop the prototype of the first instant-charged car so far, including the battery and the associated charging station.
