Its long-term partner SK Chemical (Senan City, South Korea) will showcase a new generation of innovative applications for plastic packaging, such as aerosol containers and cosmetics and hot-fill bottles. Velox Ecozen HFECOZEN HF is its newly developed biocopolyester series for any application requiring heat, pressure and transparency, replacing aluminum, glass and PET.
The first batch of customers have already tested the samples at each level.
New high performance biocopolyester for food and aerosol packaging
François Minec, General Manager of Velox, explained: “ECOZEN HF is processed similarly to PET and can be used in the same injection-stretch blow molding (ISBM) process. However, SK Chemical's new products are in areas where PET sometimes fails. Good performance, such as in high temperature and high pressure environments. For example, PET is sometimes used to produce aerosol bottles, which tend to fail due to the high residual stress and low temperature tolerance of PET, especially in summer. ECOZENHF offers an ideal alternative."
ECOZEN HF is resistant to pressure, stress cracking and high temperature, and has good transparency and easy processing. As a glass substitute in the field of food packaging, it not only helps to reduce weight and transportation costs, but also can be used to produce hot-fill containers without the need for expensive PET thermal solidification processes or bottle or bottleneck crystallization.
Similarly, as an aluminum substitute for the cosmetic packaging industry, ECEZEN HF combines high pressure resistance, design flexibility and transparency. In addition, Ecozen HF is completely miscible with PET in the recycle stream.
Velox offers this new range in almost all European countries.
