NASA sends Microsoft holographic glasses HoloLens to space

On June 26th, Microsoft's reality enhanced holographic glasses HoloLens was highly anticipated by the outside world, and even astronauts could not wait to try it. According to foreign media reports, NASA will deliver two Microsoft HoloLens reality enhancement devices to the International Space Station during the SpaceX replenishment mission this weekend.

Both Microsoft and NASA have collaborated on hardware and software. The astronauts of the International Space Station will use HoloLens, which has two modes of operation:

In the Procedure Mode, an animated hologram of the operating object will appear in front of the astronaut. So the astronauts can follow the steps of the computer to complete some operations without relying on communication and verbal communication with the ground personnel.

Expert Mode, the ground operator will get the astronaut's perspective in real time via Skype, so that ground personnel can also provide real-time guidance and “use the annotation addition technology synchronized to the astronaut's field of vision to assist Complete the space mission."

Sidekick is not currently part of the daily routine of the International Space Station. Astronauts will use both devices to test hardware and software. NASA said it will ship another batch of HoloLens to the International Space Station in the "Future Mission".
