Tokyo, October 31st: Hiroyuki Nakayama, senior general manager of the copper and aluminum division of Kobe Steel, a Japanese steel producer, said that Kobe Steel plans to increase the output of automotive assembly extrusion products.
The company plans to produce 1,500 tons of extruded products per month during the second half of the fiscal year, up from 1,400 tons per month in the first half of the year. In the fiscal year 2006-2007, the company could produce 1,200 tons of aluminum extrusion products per month.
It said that the demand for aluminum covers and bumpers is on the increase. “At present, aluminum is mainly used for the production of car covers. We hope to expand its use to the doors.†The car covers and bumpers produced by Kobe Steel are produced. Other extruded products account for 50-60% of the total output of extruded products.
