AUO announced on the 19th that its 8.5th generation plant in Zhongke Houli Base in Taiwan has become the world’s first TFT-LCD green plant to receive LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) platinum certification from the US Green Building Association. Following the LEED Gold certification of the first 8.5-generation plant of the Zhongke Taichung Base and the Tianjin Solar Module Plant, AUO has continued to promote the concept of source design. AUO Zhongke Houli Plant is currently the only LEED Platinum-grade factory in the world, and it is currently the largest green plant in the world. The LEED-certified buildings are mainly commercial buildings and government buildings. There are only eight high-tech plants in the world that have received LEED certification. In order to meet the stringent standards for LEED Platinum certification, AUO continued to break through its multiple challenges. Compared with the US Refrigeration Air Conditioning Association Standard (ASHRAE 90.1) adopted by LEED, in terms of energy management, the overall energy efficiency of the 8.5-generation plant after AUO reached 49.7%, which is comparable to that of the same-generation LEED Gold-certified plant. The benefits increase by as much as 11.7%. AUO has continued to invest in the research and design of energy optimization solutions, such as the use of innovative digital management platforms such as “digital power meters and meters” to strengthen the management of the use of water and electricity; based on the different needs of the machine, a double-pressure compressed air system is designed. In addition to energy-saving equipment, AUO actively planted and reduced carbon, planting more than 34,000 trees in the Houli plant area; the plant area has been fully expanded with efficient, mercury-free LED lighting; environmental protection and shared parking spaces have been established, and The exclusive bicycle parking spaces and the Houli factory dormitories are also the first to install solar panels of 30kW to supply electricity to the dormitory. Each year its power generation capacity can supply nearly 320 households' daily electricity consumption. In terms of water resources management, the AUO Zhongke Houli Plant's process water recycling rate is as high as 90%; the plant roof is used to collect rainwater in 600 tons of recovery tanks, and air-conditioning condensate water is recovered as a planting water source; toilet toilet water 100% use recycled water; it is estimated that a total of about 13 million tons of tap water can be used each year, which is equivalent to 6,500 standard pools.
